ロシアには、世界唯一の "猫のサーカス” があるそうですね。
ロシアに居たときもその話は聞いたこともなく、今頃知りました。
世界公演も積極的にこなし、日本へも何回か来たりしているそうです。
ボリショイ サーカスはその昔見たことがあります。
熊さんたちが大きな体で、演技を披露しておりました。
熊さんたちは大好物の角砂糖が食べたくて、”困難もものともせず。” なんて風があって、演技が終わると 「角砂糖ちょうだいよ」 と指導のおじさんの体をなぜなぜして、ねだっていたのが可愛らしかったですね。
猫さんたちも、見ごたえのある演技をするそうですよ。

I was seen the Bolshoi Circus, It was long time ago, big bear had been showing the performance.
Big bears wanted to eat sugar cubes that their favorite because of this sugar cubes they can over come any difficulties. "I did good job, give me sugar cube" after acting they were asking sugar cubes, it was so cute .
I hard this circus cats are showing good performance also.
シトシト雨から突然夏の暑さになったシアトルの５月の始め、リラの花が咲き始めました。
毎年毎年リラの花の咲くころ、ロシアに咲くリラの花を恋しく思います。
青空にスックと、枝もたわわな大木に咲くロシアのリラの花は大きな房で、その香りの高いこと。
ここシアトルに咲くリラは、木も小ぶりで、花も小ぶり香りもまったくないリラさえあります。
日本でもアメリカでもライラックと言いますね。
ジャン ソルビエが歌う ”リラの花の咲くころ” というシャンソンが素敵で、宝塚歌劇団が歌う ”スミレの花の咲くころ” の元歌だそうです。

ダゲスタン共和国生まれのチェチェン人の若者がボストンで起こしたテロは ”犯人はロシア人" と、人々の口に上り、ロシア人は肩身の狭い思いをしたかもしれません。
ダゲスタン共和国もチェチェン共和国もロシアの自治州と言う立場に置かれていれば、犯人はロシア人だという人も多くいることでしょう。
ダゲスタンやチェチェン共和国が属するカフカスという名の、自然がこの上ない美しい、標高5000メートルを超える高峰群を擁するこの地方は、乳と蜜のあふれる地。
限りなく沸き出でる天然水と温泉。
”約束の地” あるいは ”山のあなたの空遠く、幸い住むと人の言う" そのような地のように私には思えましたけれど、
その思いとは程遠く、、、、、、、、
このカスピ海と黒海に挟まれた、比較的小さいながら東西南北を結ぶ交通の要であるこの山岳地帯の山間には、昔昔から様々な言語、文化、宗教をもった民族集団が複雑に入り組んで暮らし、ある時は通り過ぎ、地球上もっとも民族的に多様な地域であると言われています。
その民族同士はしばしば抗争し、あるいはその近辺に大国が勃興すれば、その支配下に置かれ、長い歴史は苦難の歴史であったようでした。
そして今もなおかつ、隣国同士の小競り合いは絶える事はありません。
その中でも特にチェチェンの人たちの団結力は強く、独立独歩のグループだと言われています。
私もその昔、辿り着いたチェルケスクから遥かカフカスの山々を望みながら、帰ってきたときがありました。その時は第２次チェチェン戦争のときでした。
美しいカフカスの自然の中に、人間の調和と平和が訪れることを願ってやみません。

娘の誕生日の準備をしていたら、夫がロシアの誕生日の歌の一部を思い出し口ずさんでおりました。
当時同居人であったロシアの若者たちは、お祭り騒ぎが大好きで、誰かの誕生日ともなればこの歌を口ずさみながら、朝からケーキを作り始めました。
カーチャのサプライズ パーティーが密かに予定されたある朝のこと、小さかった息子が 「今日はカーチャのサプライズパーティーがあるよ」 とカーチャノがそこにいるにもかかわらず、良く通る大きな声でお知らせをしたので、みんなが寄ってたかって 「静かに！ シーッ！」 と言うので、ますますうろたえた息子は 「カーチャのサプライズ パーテーだなんて言わなかったよ。カーチャの。。。。 ワーン」 誰もがなすすべもなくゲラゲラ笑ってしまいました。
夫も私も誕生日を公表するには気恥ずかしかったのですけれど、この子達のお祭り好きのために付き合ったりしました。
その度に、彼らはこの歌を楽しげに歌っていました。
後にこの歌は、ロシアの有名なアニメーション ”チェブラーシカ” の中でワニのゲーナが歌っていた誕生日の歌と知りました。
日本人にとっては誕生日の歌としては暗いと言われるのですけれど、ロシアの若者たちは実に楽しげに歌っておりました。

東方教会のイースターは、今年は５月５日ですか。
厳しい冬の余韻をまだまだ脱していないロシアでは、西方教会のイースターから一ヶ月後ほどが復活祭には相応しい時期ですね。
イエスキリストの復活を迎えるその日まで、重要な様々な儀式が行われる懐かしい記述は、西欧の文学に見られますけれど、ロシア文学では「カラマーゾフの兄弟」で復活祭の前の一週間を「受難週間(神聖週間）」、復活祭の週を「光明週間」と語られていますね。

ロシアの日常に使う塩は岩塩。
良質のミネラルを豊富に含んだ優しい塩なのですけれど、最近のニュースでウクライナの地下３００ｍの岩塩採掘の洞窟が病院として使われ、気管支系の病気によく利くと現場の写真と共に紹介され反響を呼んでいるようですね。
この療法は “Speleotherapy”（洞窟治療）と呼ばれ、喘息や気管支炎など慢性症状を持つ患者に効くといわれています。
ロシアやウクライナ東ヨーロッパでこの治療が普及されている背景は、1950年代に
ポーランドで、岩塩坑で働く人びとが結核にも喘息にもならないということから、洞窟内のマイナスイオン（酸素原子）が喉に良い
効果を与えるということがわかったからだそうです。
岩塩は日本ではなじみが薄いので、専門家は未だ半信半疑、心も体も志向しないのでしょうけれど、多少なりとも岩塩と共に生活したものにとっては、科学的実証がどうであれこうであれ、これは確かに人間には有効であると納得出来ます。

まだ夏には気が早いのですけれど、最近息子が近所のグローサリー ストアーで ”クワス” と言う名のロシア古来の清涼飲料を発見してきて、懐かしくロシアの夏を思い出しました。
”クワス” とロシア人に親しまれている、ライ麦と麦芽と発酵させて作るこのジュースは、ロシア人にとっては、日本のラムネみたいな感覚でしょうか。
"クワス” はロシアのみならず、ウクライナ、ベラルーシは勿論のこと東欧でも親しまれており、その歴史は遠く古代エジプトまで遡るそうです。
アルコール度数は1‐2.5%。
ロシア人にとってはジュースとして飲まれているので、子供であっても、なんでもない度数でしょうけれど、私なぞ目先がフラリとした感覚がありましたよ。
我が家の子供たちも、平気でたくさん飲んでいましたね。
暖かくなると ”クワス” を売る人は、上の写真のようなタンクを路上に設置して、客を待っていました。
勿論店でも売っていますけれど、路上は便利だし何となく粋な気持ちがしませんか。
紙コップが用意されていて、タンクの周りで飲んだり、歩きながら飲んだり、あるいは家から持ってきたボトルに入れて持ち帰ったり、 暑さの中をテクテク歩いていれば、誰でも飲みたくなるロシアの夏の風物です。
ソ連時代は大規模な工場で生産され、今もそうであるように町中至る所でタンクにいれて売られていたそうでした。
ところが、ソ連崩壊後、国外からやってきたコーラーなどに押され、存在の危機に見舞われたそうですが、幸いにも再び庶民の支持を得て今ではアメリカにまでもお目見えしています。
この運命も、日本のラムネみたいですね。
当の昔忘れていたラムネを、アメリカで発見した時は感無量でしたもの。

juice is made by fermenting malt

Getting warm weather the people selling the "Kvass" to set up tank on the street like the photo above they were waiting for customers are coming.

the Soviet era are produced in large factories, it was sold in everywhere around town.
after the collapse of the Soviet Union, many kind of soft drink were came
from outside of the country, квас had suffered a crisis of
existence, now it has come even to the United States with
the support of the people again fortunately.
This story same like the Japanese Ramune.
when I found the Ramune in the United States, I was so surprised.
