カリニングラードのお隣がポーランドのグダンスクなので、アメリカに帰るときは国境をバスで越えてポーランドから飛行機でアメリカに戻るのが早道だし、安上がりなのでこのルートで帰ることにしました。カリニングラードでのスカンジナビアン エアラインのロシア向け（多分カリニングラードでのみ買える）特別料金価格が何とボストン往復,大人＄３２０でした。
それでは皆様お元気でと、田舎風のトイレもついていない国際バスに乗り込むと、ロシアの普通のおじさんやおばさん達で満員でした。
国境近くに来ると、このおじさんやおばさんが 「あんた達の椅子の下に私の荷物を入れさせてくれる？」 と聞きにきました。
私達は何だかわからないけれど、お断りしました。
それにもかかわらず、気がついてみれば私達の椅子の下には満杯に荷物が詰め込まれておりました。
後でわかったのですけれど、乗客の多くは密輸人でそのことはバスの運転手もよく知っていて、というよりもグルで、ごく当たり前のこととして日常に行われているようです。
特にカリニングラードは地理的条件がとても彼らにとって好都合なので、大小様々な取引が行われているようです。
どれほどこの検問所が彼らにとって厳しいか知りませんけれど、ロシア側のイミグレーションが私達の子供に与えたごく些細なミスゆえに、
３時間もここで足止めを食いました。
バスの運転手も乗客も、みんな待たされました。
それでも私達に対する非難の言葉も、目つきも態度もありませんでした。
やっと開放されて、私達はひどく強縮して 「ごめんなさい」 と言ったのですけれど、誰も彼も何事もなかったかのように国境を越えて目的地に向かいました。
こんなことには慣れているのかもしれません。

Kaliningrad is favorable geographical conditions for them in particular, trading in various kind of things .
But I do not know in this checkpoint, how severe for them, due to immigration of the Russian side very small mistake has given to our children, we were a stranded here for three hours.
Also passengers and bus driver, everyone has been waiting because of us. And their attitude was not the accusations against us, Finally been released, and we said to them "I am sorry" and we went to destinations as if nothing had happened to anyone.
That perhaps They experienced about this kind of treble .
